1. Take caution while opening the big, tall monarch butterfly tents. Remove the elastic strap and be prepared for the cube cage to pop open unexpectedly. Ensure you have enough space and keep fragile objects away.

2. After opening the net cage, you may notice creases on the PVC side due to folding. To remove these creases quickly, use a hairdryer to blow dry the PVC for approximately 5 minutes. Alternatively, place the PVC in warm sunlight to relax the wrinkles.

3. Always close the cage door by aligning the zippers at the top center. If a caterpillar is located near the zipper, this will allow you to unzip the other side and open the cage.

4. To clean the mesh cage after a disease outbreak or at the end of the season, soak it in a 5% bleach solution (19 parts water to 1 part bleach) for about 20 minutes. You can use a tub or laundry tub for this purpose.

5. Rinse the butterfly garden with water and allow it to dry in the sun. You can hang it on a clothesline or place a rock on the floor to prevent it from blowing away.

6. When folding the cage for storage, place your hands on opposite upper corners and press one corner to fold the cage flat.

7. Store the collapsed cage flat in a closet, under a bed, behind a couch, or any other suitable space.

The professional version of the butterfly habitat is more square in shape, providing stability and preventing any rocking or movement. It features five mesh panels to ensure good airflow and a clear vinyl window panel, allowing students and families to witness the transformation of caterpillars into chrysalides and then emerging as beautiful Monarch, Painted Lady, or Black Swallowtail Butterflies.
